NFL 'MNF' Week 12: Minnesota Vikings vs. Chicago Bears betting picks, preview

The Week 12 NFL slate is almost behind us, but before we can flip the page to Week 13, we still have one more game to handicap. The "Monday Night Football" matchup this week will feature an NFC North battle between the Minnesota Vikings and the Chicago Bears, and we've got you covered with our breakdown and best bets for the prime-time clash.

Minnesota Vikings vs. Chicago Bears betting odds, preview

Spread: Vikings -3, Over/under: 43.5, Moneyline: Vikings -155 | Bears +130

The Joshua Dobbs honeymoon phase came to an end last week when the Vikings fell, 21-20, to the Denver Broncos on the road. Minnesota is still in position to grab a wild-card spot in the NFC playoffs, and a win on "Monday Night Football" would go a long way in helping that cause.

It won't be easy against a Bears team that went toe-to-toe with the Detroit Lions last week and nearly upset the NFC North leaders on the road. Justin Fields returned from his four-game absence and rushed for 104 yards in the 31-26 loss, and the improved defense picked off Jared Goff three times. This team is trending in the right direction on both sides of the ball, which is why we're seeing such a short spread on "MNF."

Dobbs may be the story of the NFL right now, but the story of this matchup will be Minnesota's rushing offense against Chicago's rushing defense. The Vikings racked up 175 rushing yards against the Broncos last week, but the Bears rank No. 1 in the NFL in rushing yards allowed per game and yards allowed per rush.

'Monday Night Football' betting picks

Bears +3 (-112 DraftKings)

This is a good matchup for the Bears on both sides of the ball. Chicago's league-leading rushing defense can shut down Alexander Mattison and Ty Chandler in the run game, which will force Dobbs to win the game with his arm. We've seen Dobbs make dangerous decisions when under pressure in obvious passing situations, so the Bears should be able to force a turnover or two on defense.

As for the offense, Chicago's success will depend on how Fields deals with a Vikings defense that blitzes more than any team in the NFL. Fields has struggled with the blitz in the past, but if he can escape the initial pressure, he has a chance to have a huge day on the ground.

This feels like a game that will come down to the wire, so we'll grab the three points with the underdog.

Justin Fields 60+ rushing yards (+116 FanDuel)

This is a perfect matchup for Fields to scramble around and make plays with his legs. The Vikings blitz on nearly 48 percent of their defensive plays, while no other team in the NFL has a blitz percentage higher than 37 percent.

If Fields's first read isn't open, he's going to tuck it and run with the pocket collapsing. He also recorded season-high marks in rushing attempts (18) and rushing yards (104) against the Lions last week, and this is an even better matchup.
