Kansas City Chiefs’ Biggest Super Bowl Threat Revealed
Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

The Kansas City Chiefs enter the 2024 campaign aiming for a historic third consecutive Super Bowl championship, and could face a familiar roadblock in the AFC, in the Baltimore Ravens.

It took Patrick Mahomes’ heroics in a knockdown, drag out AFC Championship Game that saw the Chiefs win 17-10, despite Kansas City being shutout after halftime.

Can Baltimore Ravens Knock Off Kansas City Chiefs?

In CBS Sports’ latest NFL power rankings, the Ravens sit firmly at No. 2, behind only the Chiefs.

“I do think we should be paying attention to Baltimore losing defensive coordinator Mike Macdonald,” Tyler Sullivan writes for CBS. “And how that may impact the unit after a stellar season. Even with that in mind, however, the Ravens are a legit contender in the conference. Lamar Jackson should be even better as he enters his second season with OC Todd Monken and will now have Derrick Henry with him in the backfield. Zay Flowers ascending in his second season and getting Mark Andrews back healthy also is a plus on offense. Defensively, they were able to retain Justin Madubuike and added Clemson corner Nate Wiggins to help out the secondary.”

During free agency, the Ravens struck gold by adding Derrick Henry as a bulldozing and explosive running back alongside Jackson, and with a prolific receiver in Zay Flowers on the perimeter.

If last year’s AFC Championship Game is any indication, and given the talent across the Kansas City Chiefs’ roster, the reigning champs are going to be difficult to unseat.
