Joe Burrow threw in practice for the first time since undergoing wrist surgery on Monday, and it was enough to draw rave reviews from those who got to see it.

Monday’s practice was Burrow’s first opportunity to throw to his wide receivers under the supervision of quarterbacks coach Brad Kragthorpe. Kragthorpe in particular raved about Burrow, with the quarterbacks coach pronouncing Burrow to be as good as ever.

“I think he looked as quick and as athletic as I’ve seen him look,” Kragthorpe said, via Geoff Hobson of the team’s official website. “He looked like the Joe Burrow we’re used to seeing. I didn’t see any difference. I thought the ball came out of his hand well. Confidently. I’m happy where he’s at.”

Burrow underwent significant wrist surgery that prematurely ended his season after Week 11. He was expecting to be cleared for full contact around mid-May, so that may be imminent already.

The Bengals’ playoff hopes hinge on a healthy Burrow. It is very early, but it is a great sign that he looks excellent so far.
