Ex-Boston Celtics Stud Grant Williams Gets Painfully Honest on Not Getting Tribute Video from C’s
David Butler II-USA TODAY Sports

Boston Celtics news: Grant Williams played for two different teams this season. This is after the Dallas Mavericks traded him to the Charlotte Hornets mid-season as part of the P.J. Washington deal.

Before his whirlwind of a campaign in 2023-24, though, the 6-foot-6 forward played the first four seasons of his career with the Celtics. It was a memorable near-half-decade in Boston for Williams, which is exactly why he was saddened by the fact that he didn’t get a tribute video when he returned to the TD Garden for the first time since leaving the team.

Boston Celtics News: Grant Williams Gets Real on Lack of Tribute Video

In a recent podcast appearance, Williams got brutally honest about how he felt when he realized that the Celtics did not even bother preparing a tribute video for him:

“I was like, ‘Dang.’ I was like, ‘I don’t get no love,’” Williams said during an appearance on The Cedric Maxwell Podcast (h/t Gio Rivera of NESN).

Williams continued: “Was I a little bit disappointed? Yeah. Just because I feel like there were some great years in those four years I was there. I was a kid that got drafted there and I was a kid that grew up there.”

I guess the Celtics just did not feel like Williams had a significant enough impact during his time with the team for him to warrant any sort of tribute.

The worst part here is that Williams was actually expecting it.

It will now be very interesting to see what type of reception Williams will get at the TD Garden when he returns next season as a member of the Hornets. Perhaps the Celtics will respond to his seemingly desperate plea here by showing a tribute video this time around? Better late than never, I guess.
