Charles Barkley Declares Denver Nuggets As Officially Dead in Series vs. Minnesota Timberwolves
Isaiah J. Downing-USA TODAY Sports

After losing Game 1 to Anthony Edwards and the Minnesota Timberwolves , the Denver Nuggets were expected to bounce back right away. The thing is, the defending champions didn’t and NBA legend Charles Barkley declared them dead in this series.

In the second game of the Western Conference Semifinals, the Timberwolves were able to get the 106-80 win over Denver in their own home court. Both Anthony Edwards and Karl-Anthony Towns dropped 27 points each, with the latter getting 12 rebounds in almost 36 minutes on the court. Nickeil Alexander-Walker and Naz Reid added 14 points each from the bench to help Minnesota get the dub.

The Nuggets, on the other hand, had Aaron Gordon lead them with 20 points and four rebounds. All-Star big man Nikola Jokic wasn’t his usual dominant self as he only posted 16 points on 38 percent shooting from the field and 16 rebounds. Jamal Murray was also inefficient after he only connected three of his 18 field goal attempts to finish the game with eight points and 13 assists.

The win placed Minnesota at a very advantageous position as their lead has now grown to 2-0. The Nuggets, meanwhile, are crumbling at the wrong time with their core not performing well against a dominant showing from Edwards and Towns.

NBA Analyst Charles Barkley Says Denver Nuggets Will Lose Series To Minnesota Timberwolves

After the game, various personalities gave their take on the Timberwolves-Nuggets series and Game 2 where the latter lost. Among them was Charles Barkley, as seen in a video clip posted by NBA on TNT’s official X account:

As the stats have shown, the Timberwolves are shooting the ball better, committing fewer turnovers, and getting more offensive rebounds. Furthermore, they’re also draining more free throws and are performing well on the offensive end of the court.

If Denver doesn’t want to justify Barkley’s claims, Jokic and the Nuggets will have to rise above their flaws and play like champions. Otherwise, Chuck’s declaration will come true and the Nuggets will see themselves exiting the playoffs earlier than they would like.
