Chicago Cubs Top 10 Prospects Check-In

OF – Pete Crow-Armstrong Iowa Cubs—-> Chicago Cubs

Crow-Armstrong played seven games for the Chicago Cubs this past week. He had 20 at-bats with one run scored, three hits, one double, three RBIs, one walk, four strikeouts, and two stolen bases. He slashed .150/.182/.200 with a .382 OPS this past week for the Cubs.

RHP – Cade HortonTennessee Smokies—> Iowa Cubs

Horton was moved up to Triple-A to pitch for the Iowa Cubs this past week. He made one start for them taking the loss after going four innings allowing two hits, two earned runs, four walks, and six strikeouts. He had a 4.50 ERA and a 1.50 WHIP in his first start in Triple-A. He should see his next start come this coming Friday, May 10th.

OF – Owen Caissie – Iowa Cubs

Caissie played six games in this series. He had 15 at-bats, two runs scored, four hits, one home run, two RBIs, six walks, four Ks, and slashed .267/.500/.467 with a .967 OPS On the series.

1B – Michael Busch – Chicago Cubs

Michael Busch played in all the games in the last seven Cubs. He had 25 at-bats, three runs scored, five hits, two doubles, one triple, one RBI, one walk, nine strikeouts, and slashed .200/.231/.360 with a .591 OPS.

OF – Kevin Alcantara – Tennessee Smokies

Alcantara played in five games in the last seven days for the Smokies. He had 18 at-bats with two runs scored, three hits, one double, one walk, and eight strikeouts in the last seven days. He slashed .167/.211/.222 with a .433 OPS.

2B/3B – Matt Shaw – Tennessee Smokies

Shaw played in six of the Smokies’ games this past week. He had 19 at-bats, three runs scored, three hits, one double, five RBIs, five walks, and four strikeouts. He slashed .158/.333/.211 with an OPS of .544.

2B – James Triantos – Tennessee Smokies

Triantos played in five games for the Cubs in the last seven days. He had 19 at-bats, six runs scored, nine hits, two doubles, one triple, one RBI, one strikeout, and one stolen base. He slashed .474/.500/.684 with a 1.184 OPS on the week.

P – Jordan Wicks – Chicago Cubs

Jordan Wicks did not pitch this past week as he was placed on the 15-day injured list with a left forearm strain.

RHP – Ben Brown – Chicago Cubs

Brown started one game this past week for the Cubs. He pitched 4.2 innings, giving up three hits, two earned runs, five walks, and striking out five. On the season with the Cubs Brown has only recorded one loss, no wins, in eight total appearances four of them being starts. He has a 4.23 ERA, 1.27 WHIP, and 27 strikeouts in 27.2 innings pitched this year for the Cubs.

1B – Moises Ballerestos – Tennesee Smokies

Ballesteros played in six of the games this week. He had 20 at-bats, five runs scored, ten hits, three doubles, six RBIs, one walk, three strikeouts, and slashed .500/.524/.650 with a 1.174 OPS this week.

The Week Ahead:

Iowa Cubs (16-17)

In their six-game series, the Iowa Cubs went 1-5 against the Omaha Storm Chasers last week. They will host the Columbus Clippers for a six-game series next against the Triple-A affiliate for the Cleveland Guardians. The Clippers have ITD’s 55th-ranked prospect Kyle Manzardo on the team who is a promising star first baseman on the team.

Tennessee Smokies (15-11)

The Tennessee Smokies won the series four games to two against Biloxi Shuckers in a six-game series with the Double-A affiliate of the Milwaukee Brewers. They will now host the Chattanooga Lookouts the Double-A affiliate of the Cincinnati Reds. The Lookouts has ITD’s 95th-ranked SP-Chase Petty and Injured Edwin Arroyo on the roster.

The South Bend Cubs won the series against Lansing Lugnuts the High-A affiliate of the Oakland A’s four games to two this past week. They will now host the Cedar Rapids Kernels the High-A affiliate of the Minnesota Twins. The Kernels have young outfielder Gabriel Gonzalez who is the 91st overall-ranked prospect for ITD this year.

The Myrtle Beach Pelicans split the series with Salem Red Sox the Single-A affiliate of the Boston Red Sox. They will now host the Augusta Green Jackets the Single-A affiliate of the Atlanta Braves.
